It’s never too late to step onto the stage!

Webster City Community Theatre has launched an opportunity for performers over the age of 55 to partidipate in readers theatre, staged readings, or productions.

The format removes the need to memorize lines or attend multiple rehearsals.

The community was introduced to this new concept at Readers Theatre on January 11th. Loween Getter led the reading of “Fiddler on the Roof Senior.” This senior version created by Music Theatre Internatioanl (MTI) is a shortened version of the popular musical. The script is condensed and not all the verses of the well-known songs are included, but the familiar storyline and characters are all there.

“Fiddler on the Roof Senior” will be performed on March 27 and 28 in conjunction with the Iowa Community Theatre Associaion’s state convention, hosted at WCCT. It is a way for theatres from across the state to be introduced to MTI’s Broadway Senior shows. A workshop on various forms of senior theatre will be held during the convention.

Auditions for “Fiddler on the Roof Senior” have been held, but there is still a need for males and femailes for minor roles and villagers of Anatevka.

Participants must be at least 55 years of age.

Additional fun events for the Over the Speed Limit Players will be announced soon. Watch this website, Facebook, and other media for updates.
