Auditions

Auditions for “Of Men and Cars” will be held Sunday, December 29, and Monday, December 30, at 6 pm.

                                  Try-outs will be held at the theatre, led by director Loween Getter.

Auditions will include readings from the script. 

Scripts will be available for 3-day check out at Kendall Young Library starting December 18.

The play is a semi-autographical tale covering 26 years in the life of the playwright Jim Geoghan. Both a comedy and drama, it is the story of Jim and his father, a WWII bomber pilot. Jim was amazed by his father when he was a child. Later, he wasn’t as amazed and told him so. As an adult, Jim realized he wasn’t so amazing himself. Happy ending.

Mom, Anna, New York woman, Dorothy, girl next door, college girl, Los Angeles woman, saleswoman

Frankie Two Fingers, salesman, Warren, shrink, Montauk Man, Dominic, New York man, Jack, Russo, pot head

Scripts will be available for 3-day check out at Kendall Young Library December 16-27.

Please bring a list of all dates that conflict with rehearsals and shows between January 2 and March 9. .

Performances are scheduled for the following dates and times:

February 28, March 1, 7 & 8 at 7 pm

March 2 & 9 at 2 pm

WCCT welcomes veteran and new actors to audition for its productions. Dates and times are announced on the website, Facebook and area media.

Try-outs usually consist of cold readings of scenes from the script.  Auditions for musicals include group and individual singing and simple dance steps. Improv may also be used.

Tips for Auditioning

  • Your audition begins the moment you walk in the door. 
  • Be on time or even 15 minutes early to complete paperwork and to relax and focus while you wait.
  • Wear neat, clean clothing that is comfortable and allows movement. Your shoes that stay on your feet and are easy to move in quietly.  No flip-flops, Crocs, high heels, boots, etc. please. Don’t come in costume.
  • It’s OK to be nervous.  
  • Be sure you are going to be available for all rehearsals and performances. Let us know of any conflicts you may have with the rehearsal schedule.
  • Callbacks may be necessary to put together the right cast.
  • Unfortunately not everyone who auditions will be cast. Please consider volunteering to help behind the scenes with the production in other ways.
